Introducing Fractal Vote: Cast Your First Vote on the Future of Fractal Potato!

We're thrilled to announce the launch of Fractal Voting, a groundbreaking on-chain voting platform that leverages OP_CAT to bring community decision-making to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

And for our genesis vote, we're starting with something fun that's close to our community's heart — determining the lore of the new Fractal Potato mascot!

Fractal Voting: A New Era of Bitcoin Community Decision-Making

First, let’s start with some context: Fractal Voting represents a significant innovation in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Built using OP_CAT, this voting system allows users to participate in voting through a secure, flexible, and transparent community decision-making mechanism.

Locking and Voting Power

  • Lock your FB (Fractal Bitcoin) tokens to receive voting power

  • 1:1 ratio of FB to voting power

  • No fixed locking period — unlock anytime you choose (but take note of cooling period)

  • 21,000 block (~7 day) cooling period when unlocking to prevent double-voting

Secure and Transparent

  • Each user receives a unique Voting Contract Address

  • All FB tokens are securely locked in your contract

  • Sign votes using UniSat or OKX Wallet

  • No transaction fees for voting once FB is locked

  • All voting history recorded on vote.fractalbitcoin.io

The Process

  1. Lock FB: Transfer FB from your address to your unique Lock Address

  2. Vote: Vote on multiple proposals using your locked voting power

  3. Unlock FB: Move from Lock Address to Time Lock Address (21,000 block waiting period)

  4. Claim FB: After cooling period, transfer from Time Lock Address back to your address

The Genesis Vote: Growing the Fractal Potato Lore! 🥔

For our first community vote, we're embracing the playful spirit of our community by establishing the official lore of the Fractal Potato — our new beloved community ambassador!

It’s all thanks to our community, who helped us grow the mascot on X by watering it to life. 💧

Why a Potato?

Born as an internal joke about the golden potato-looking blobs on the Fractal website (see the newsletter sign up panel on the bottom of the home page!), Fractal Potato nonetheless proudly stands as a fitting symbol of Fractal’s values and vision.

The humble potato mirrors Fractal's role in the Bitcoin ecosystem in surprising ways:

  • Humble Helper: Like potatoes that complement and enhance meals without overshadowing them, Fractal works alongside Bitcoin, supporting and scaling it while staying true to its core principles.

  • Complete Package: Just as potatoes contain all essential amino acids that are the building blocks of life, Fractal provides comprehensive scaling solutions within Bitcoin's framework.

  • Extensive Networks: After growing and developing through networks of roots, potatoes are "mined" from the Earth, reflecting Fractal's Cadence Mining approach and layered scaling solutions.

  • Versatile Foundation: The incredible versatility of potatoes mirrors Fractal's flexible infrastructure, capable of supporting countless applications and use cases.

  • Global Impact: The potato's journey from a regional crop to a global staple parallels Bitcoin's path to worldwide adoption – and Fractal's role in enabling that growth.

The Fractal Potato represents our commitment to being Bitcoin's humble helper — working tirelessly beneath the surface to nourish and scale the network while staying true to its roots. Like the potato itself, Fractal might seem simple on the surface, but it contains everything needed to help Bitcoin grow and thrive.

Just as the potato quietly became one of humanity's most important innovations, the Fractal Potato reminds us that the most profound solutions often come in humble packages. It's a symbol of our dedication to scaling Bitcoin through patient and consistent cultivation, rather than flashy disruption that fades.

What's the Vote?

For the first vote, we created a set of Fractal Potato stickers, just for our community.

Let’s kick off the first OP_CAT-based voting on Fractal by deciding:

What kind of potato food type best represents Fractal?

  • Mashed Potato: Infinitely divisible (like Fractal's scaling)

  • French Fry: Long and stackable (like recursive layers)

  • Hash Brown: Crispy on the outside, soft inside (secure yet flexible)

  • Baked Potato: Built on existing foundation (like Fractal on Bitcoin)

Based on this vote, we will illustrate Fractal Potato in that style!

Stuck? Play this personality quiz for inspiration!

With your help as our Fractal Fam, we will progressively decide crucial elements of the Fractal Potato's identity as a community! Let’s shape the Potato’s personality, destiny, and more to come — the community chooses the Fractal Potato’s adventure.
